Made our first Louisiana trip of the year last week with some friends and fellow anglers from Wyoming. Despite a variety of weather conditions, including clouds, rain, wind, and even a bit of sunshine, we did well and had a great time out on the water. We landed 4 fish over 20 pounds and had shots at several others. Already looking forward to the next trip, especially after another cold front or two comes thru and continues to bring things to life in the marsh.
Jason Budd, Wyoming guide with Reel Deal Anglers, fighting a nice redfish that we found feeding in a small pond
Jason, happy camper on his first day ever red fishing
Tim Koski, of Jackson Hole’s Reel Deal Anglers, with a nice #20 redfish we found cruising the bank
Nice #22 Redfish I fed in a small creek adjoining an interior marsh pond
Tim fed this fish after we watched it feed for 50 yds down the bank. A little lead, a little bump, game on
Highlight of the trip, this #28 red was floating in a couple feet of water
No trip is complete without a good Po-Boy. We found these at a pit stop on the way back our last day. Fresh shrimp, a little creole mustard, and some hot sauce. Simple and good. Be back down to the marsh in another week for round 2, hopefully with some consistent results!
